The Kelty Trail Ridge tent series is available in 4 models: Trail Ridge 2, Trail Ridge 3, Trail Ridge 4 and Trail Ridge 6 (pictured). The Trail Ridge is great for 3 season car camping and is great for families due to its innovative design that allows for star gazing through the top of the tent. The design, which allows the walls to remain steep, also gives the tent a huge amount of interior space. The majority of the upper section of the tent is mesh, so when it is used without a fly, there are great views of the outdoors. The tent has 2 doors which is great for getting in and out without disturbing the other campers. Some of the tech features of the Trail Ridge include an ArcEdge floor which will remain taut and keep the seams off the ground, keeping the floor dry. DAC Pressfit poles and color coded clips make setup a breeze. There is also a Gear Ledge which give you plenty of room to store your packs, clothes and other items.

The general consensus from our reviewers was that the Kelty Trail Ridge is most likely the best bang for your buck in the 3 season / car camping category. This tent has the features of other tents that cost 2-3 times as much. One example is Kelty using clips instead of sleeves. One reviewer told us he went camping with his family in the rain and was able to set up the 4 person tent by himself in 90 seconds! He went on to say that it rained during their entire 5 day trip and the full rain fly and floor design allows him, his wife and 2 small children to stay warm and dry the entire time. Other reviewers noted that the tent is extremely waterproof, well ventilated and has great gear storage. One reviewer did say you would not want to put 4 full size adults in the 4 person model unless you all really liked each other but most families of 4 would be fine.

The North Face Mountain 25 tent is a two person, 4 season mountaineering tent built for extreme conditions. It is part of the North Face Summit Series expedition tents and is the smallest tent in the Summit Series line. This tent was specially designed to handle snow and high winds. Some of the features include an internal guyout system for extreme winds, dual doors with a front vestibule and a fully taped nylon bucket floor. The bucket floor is elevated on the corners which keeps the seams off the ground and reduces water seepage. More technical features include Kevlar stretch resistant guylines, 1500mm PU coating on the fly and Fusion Pitch continuous pole sleeves which allow for easy setup without sacrificing structural integrity.

Our reviewers were generally impressed with the North Face Mountain 25. The biggest complaint on this tent was weight. Packaged weight is just under 10 lbs (9 lbs 15 oz) so it is on the heavier side. We also had 2 reviewers say they had some problems with condensation on the fly, one in heavy rain and another when it was sagging due to heavy snow. On the positive side, every reviewer said this tent can easily handle any weather conditions you put it in. Several of our reviewers use this tent exclusively for alpine climbs when the weather might turn sketchy and the tent can hold up to everything they have thrown at it. Great storage space, well ventilated and easy to setup were some of the positive remarks we heard about this tent. Several reviewers commented on all the storage pockets that are available inside, a very nice feature that some manufacturers would skimp on. Overall, if you need a tent that can handle any conditions and can justify a little extra weight, the North Face Mountain 25 may be your tent.

Fly / footprint pitch weight: 6 lbs 11 oz

The Big Agnes Fly Creek tents are available in an ultralight 1, 2, 3, and 4 person model. Each model features polyurethane and silicone coating for extra waterproof protection. Each of these ultra lightweight, stand alone Big Agnes tents are woven with extremely ventilating nylon mesh so you can not only breathe easy, but also take in amazing 360 degree views. These tents are incredibly easy and quick to set up with super light aluminum poles that lock into place. These light, roomy tents are perfect for backpacking and offer multiple mesh pockets inside for storage.

Our reviewers for the Big Agnes Fly Creek tents reported that these tents worked best for backpacking, they were easy to set up, and fairly comfortable. There were some reviews for the UL2, 3, and 4 that stated they were most comfortable when the maximum capacity of people were not occupying the tent. However, most of these same reviewers said they would still recommend this tent to a friend. The reviews point out that this tent is incredible lightweight and waterproof.

The Kelty Salida tent has been featured in the 2011 Backpacker’s Editors Choice awards. The Kelty Salida is available in both 2 (pictured) and 4 person models and offers over 10 feet of vestibule space, cross ventilation and ArcEdge floor and wall design to provide a waterproof and non-sagging shelter. In addition to a spacious vestibule area, the Kelty Salida has internal storage pockets for loose gear, multiple guyout points, and noiseless zipper pulls. The Kelty Salida is extremely easy to set up with color-coded clips so you know where to place everything. This color-coding method adds to the simplicity of setting up this spacious free-standing tent. The Kelty Salida includes multiple stuff sacks, stakes, and guylines/tighteners.

Most reviewers preferred to use the Kelty Salida for backpacking and were very pleased with the spaciousness of the tent. Our reviewers said the tent is a great tent for local multiday use, but not necessarily a foreign year-long trip. Most reviewers claimed that the tent was able to be set up in roughly 5 minutes and that it was extremely easy. There was one complaint of black guylines being a trip hazard and the stakes were cheap, but the rest of the reviews had no similar complaints. In addition, several reviewers also said the tent stayed warm through cold mountain temperatures (around 30 degrees F).

This lightweight tent is durable and made specifically for two people with two separate side doors, each containing it’s own vestibule, mesh pockets, and storage space.
The Big Agnes Jack Rabbit is a two or three person, 3 season superlight backpacking tent. Both the Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL2 and SL3 (pictured) are well-built, lightweight tents with 2 doors and vestibule space. These tents are made primarily for 3-season usage and have a hubbed pole design and pole clips for quick and easy set up. Both the fly and floor are made out of a durable nylon fabric and have been treated with a waterproof repellent. The tent body is made out of lightweight nylon and polyester mesh. Each vestibule door in these tents have storm flaps on each zipper and a vent to produce better air supply. Each guyline and stakeout is reflective, making the Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL2 and SL3 easy to find in the dark. Both of these tents also include mesh storage pockets and organizers in addition to the vestibules.

The Big Agnes Jack Rabbit SL2 and SL3 have both been well reviewed. The main consensus between our reviewers is that the tent was sturdy and held up in high winds. There were also several reviewers who claimed the Jack Rabbit was extremely spacious and they had plenty of room after setting up their gear inside. One reviewer claimed the pole sections were too long for him and did not fit in a small pack he was wanting to use. However, this is the only review claiming the pole length was inconvenient. In addition, the same reviewer said he was impressed with the spaciousness and would recommend the Jack Rabbit to a friend.

This incredibly lightweight tent is perfect for anyone looking into purchasing a comfortable one-person shelter with lots of room to spare. The Marmot EOS has DAC featherweight aluminum poles, allowing for less bulk and lightweight convenience. In addition, the Marmot EOS features Pressfit connectors so these lightweight aluminum poles have very little chance of breaking. Perfect for someone who is camping or backpacking solo, the Marmot EOS has several reflective spots on the outer canopy so that you can easily find your tent in the dark. The canopy is made from a breathable, ripstop nylon mesh. Inside the tent, are areas to store boots and packs.

The Marmot EOS is popular with backpackers primarily and has received very positive reviews. It is a general consensus from reviewers that the Marmot EOS is incredible lightweight, comfortable, and easy to set up. Many reviewers have also commented about how surprised they were as to how the Marmot EOS performed in extreme weather conditions. This tent is extremely waterproof. About 15% of reviewers claimed that this tent was too crowded and did not have enough room, but there were many contradicting reviews as to how spacious this tent was. In addition to these comments, many reviewers also claimed that the tent was especially sturdy, which is a major benefit with any tent that is so easy to set up.

The REI Quarter Dome tent series is comprised of 5 models, the T1, T2, T3, T2 Plus (pictured) and T3 Plus. The tents hold 1, 2 and 3 campers, respectively and the plus models add a little extra space. The Quarter Dome series of tents are strong, ultralight (the T2 is less than 4 pounds) and easy to set up. These tents features an innovative Tension Truss design that makes them sturdy while allowing for a generous amount of head room. DAC Featherlite NSL poles, a seam sealed waterproof floor and chimney ventilation system are some of the other features of this award winning tent series.

The Quarter Dome series of tents is extremely versatile. We received reviews from backpackers, hikers, car campers and even a few people who used them at the beach. Reviewers said the tent is indeed comfortable, light weight and sturdy. The unique chimney system was often praised and allows for fresh air to enter the tent even during a downpour. The two door design is nice for those who hate to disturb their neighbor in the middle of the night and also allows for improved circulation. Another point of frequent praise was the tent's structure which allows for a huge amount of headroom (a 6'2" reviewer really like the T2). The only complaints we heard about this tent are that the doors are somewhat low and a couple campers did not like the fly design.

The NEMO Losi is a 2 or 3 person 3 season tent that has been winning tons of awards. The tent has won the following awards:

Outside Magazine: Gear of the Year Award

Backpacker: Best all around 3 person tent

Men's Journal: Gear of the Year Award

The Losi series has a unique pole configuration which makes the wall of the tent nearly vertical, adding extra interior space. The tent is constructed of 30D PU Nylon and uses DAC Featherlight poles to reduce weight. The pole configuration also provides extra strength and rigidity to the tent. Both tents are also exceptionally light for the amount of space, with the 3 person tent weighing in under 6 pounds while featuring 50 sq ft of floor space. A unique accessory for these tents is the pawprint floor liner. These fleece liners make for a luxury upgrade, especially for those who don't use sleeping pads or air mattresses.

As the awards suggest, campers and backpackers love the Nemo Losi. Reviewers seem to agree that this is a great all-around tent. They say the tents are sturdy, spacious, waterproof and lightweight. One reviewer used this tent in a 40+ mph rain storm and the tent performed exceptionally. Reviewers also note that these tents are very easy to set up and had enough room inside for one of our 6'3" reviewers to stretch out comfortably.

The REI Kingdom is the cadillac of 3 season family camping tents! The Kingdom is available in 4, 6 and 8 person models. Each tent is comprised of 2 rooms with zip wall divider. Each room has it's own door so there is no need to disturb the other occupants if nature calls in the middle of the night. Additionally, one room can be converted into a screen room by rolling up the rain fly. All three models come with a backpack style carrying case that makes transport easier if you have to walk with the tent. If you need more space, there is an optional vestibule attachment for the 4 and 6 person models and a "garage" attachment for the 6 person model which adds a whopping 61 sq ft of extra space.

Campers give the REI Kingdom great ratings. They note that the tent is comfortable, roomy and easy to set up. Several campers reported being able to easily set up the 6 person tent solo. In addition, it's waterproofing was praised, as was it's durability. A family of 5 took this camping in Georgia and subject the tent to rain, snow and hail. All in one trip! They had no issues with condensation or water seeping in. The biggest negative we keep hearing is that these tents are heavy. That really isn't surprising in a family camping model but is something to note nonetheless. We've also had a couple reviewers say they had problems with the tent in high winds, so make sure to stake the tent down securely.
